Murdeira is a quiet bay on the west coast of Sal, Cape Verde (Cabo Verde), between Santa Maria and Palmeira, with Monte Leão, the lion shaped hill, on the horizon. Calm water, rocks full of fish and wide views make the bay of Murdeira one of the most peaceful places on the island.

  • Snorkelling: the calm, clear water of the bay is ideal; along the rocks you see many fish.
  • Beach and swimming: the west coast is sheltered from the trade wind, so the sea is often calmer than on the east coast.
  • Sunsets: facing west, Murdeira has some of the best sunsets on Sal.
  • Walks: along the coast towards Monte Leão.
